Research Partnerships
Supporting Mental Health
Esteem Psychology is committed to supporting and participating in psychological research that benefits the mental health and wellbeing of our community.
Current Projects
We are proud to partner with the FocUS-R project (University of Newcastle), which is examining the effects of stress and stress management on health. Follow the links below to learn more and find out about participating.
Every service below is delivered by a clinical psychologist, in person at our Hunter Street rooms in the Newcastle CBD or by telehealth from wherever suits you.
Our Services
Individual Therapy
One-to-one psychological therapy for adults, adolescents and children. We work with anxiety, depression, stress and burnout, grief and loss, trauma, complex trauma, adjustment difficulties and relationship challenges, drawing on evidence-based approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, schema therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR). Sessions usually run for 50 minutes.
Clinical Supervision
Supervision for psychologists and provisional psychologists, whether you are working towards registration requirements, moving into private practice, or looking for ongoing professional development and a considered second perspective on your caseload. Available individually, in person in Newcastle or online.
Training Workshops for Organisations
Information sessions and professional development for workplaces, schools and community organisations. Sessions can cover stress and burnout, supporting staff wellbeing, having difficult conversations, and understanding common mental health presentations , and are shaped around your group rather than delivered off the shelf. Get in touch to talk through what your organisation needs.
Group Treatment Programs
Structured group programs run alongside individual therapy, giving you a chance to build skills with other people working on similar things. Group availability changes through the year, so contact us to find out what is running and whether a group would suit you.
Cognitive and Functioning Assessments
Cognitive and adaptive functioning assessments for children (above 6), adolescents and adults to support school planning, developmental planning and access to services, completed by a clinical psychologist and written up as a clear, usable report. We also offer ADHD assessments for adults and adolescents. These assessments and reports can be used to support eligibility for NDIS. Contact us to check current availability and turnaround times.
